My first guess is the PSU, i had a similar problem, replaced the PSU and PC worked perfect again. Otherwise it might be the HDD as well...

Unless you do triple monitor gaming the GTX 770's vram is perfectly fine and I would recommend the GTX 770 over the R9 280x.
