I cannot get into the recovery partition although it seems to be there

After my partitions got corrupted I had to take my computer to a repair shop. I had copied a lot of my files to an external drive, this included a folder HP. Can I re-install from this folder to return it to factory settings? I cannot get access to the recovery partition any more.

Thanks for that Hawkeye. I checked my Bios and it was disabled.

I am running Linux and XP pro using boot magic to dual boot. The problem I have is I am using a USB mouse and keyboard and boot magic doesn't see them so I cannot choose which operating system to use. Can this be fixed or should I use a different dual boot software Lorraine
