Can't access WIFI from desktop PC (Wired connection)

Since both your PC and laptop computers will not properly connect to your router, but do work OK when hooked up to your broadband modem, it looks as if the router failed. It is also possible that your PC's Ethernet port failure and router failure had the same basic cause. Trying a new (or...

Strange issue with recently bought Acer Monitor

Since the problem persists when the monitor is not connected to the computer, it is most likely a monitor problem. If you go onto the Acer product support website, there are instructions showing how to return the monitor for service. When filling out the return form, the system will show if...

    HDD causes system hang

Another way to recover data from a problem hard drive is to connect it to a USB dock and attach that to a USB3 port on your computer. The computer should not hang and you might be able to get the info you need from the hard drive.

Changed cases now HDD not recognized.

Your motherboard has 6 SATA connectors for hard drives/optical drives/external ESATA connectors. The best setup would be for the SSN to be on SATA port 0. If you have an optical drive that might be used to boot the computer, recommend that it be connected to SATA port 1. The 3 other drives on...

Can't get passed BIOS utility screen. Help?

Try disconnecting any external components from your computer like a printer or extra stuff connected to USB ports. Only have your monitor, keyboard and mouse connected. With luck the computer will start, or at least go past the BIOS screen and to an attempt to boot from the SSD drive.

    MSI Z170 A-Pro No Boot/DRAM light on

When building a new computer, I've found that it is best to run a trial boot without the graphics card installed and with the mouse and keyboard connected to a USB2 (not USB3) rear slot. Nothing else should be connected to the computer. Connect the monitor to a case video connector (DVI or...

    New/used 4770K won't post. Is it DOA?

One other quick check. Since you are using a stock intel fan for testing, make sure that it is connected to the CPU fan header on the motherboard, not the CPU-OPT. The motherboard may be seeing that no fan is connected and will not post. I had this happen on a Gigabyte Z77 motherboard that...

    New/used 4770K won't post. Is it DOA?

The problem you are seeing might just be related to memory. Try running the system with just one memory stick installed and see if you get to a post.

Continuous Beeping on Gigabyte Z77-D3H Motherboard when I power on

Your motherboard should have a debug LED on it. Check the last number displayed on that LED before the computer shuts down. The motherboard manual lists the codes and what they tell us. Recommend running this test with the MB out of the case and with just the CPU fan, memory and graphics card...

If you visit the AS Rock website (with another computer), you will be able to download the correct Ethernet controller driver for your motherboard. Just go to the web site, look up your motherboard, and there will be a list of support items that are available for download.

    Windows 10 SSD Transfer?

Most SSD manufacturers have a program that allows you to clone/transfer your current hard drive configuration and data to the new SSD. You can do that with your win7 installation, then disconnect the hard drive and boot up win7 from your SSD. Do the win10 upgrade on the SSD. If there are...

Motherboard won't power on. Fan spins them stop

A few things to check. Ensure that the memory module is properly seated and (as already mentioned) the CPU fan is connected to the correct fan header on the motherboard. There are two power connections to your MB. One is a 4-pin connector located near the CPU and the other is the 24 pin...

hello guys need help asap on assembling

Before tackling your first PC build, spend some time looking at how to put a system together. Newegg has tons of videos that show this process in detail. Once you feel comfortable in building a system, you get to make the hard choices. MB, memory, cpu, etc. I think that you are looking at a...

    Windows 7 Ultimate

If you do not intend to swap out the MB and do not need tech support, the OEM version is your best buy. I have had excellent luck with the OEM software - just need to be exactly sure of which version to purchase.
