Can hair short an electrical circuit?

Well, the hair strand itself is non-conductive (at least by conventional knowledge). However, the oils from your scalp, which usually ends up coating the outer layer of your hair, has many ions (which should make it conductive). The current from the PCI-E slot may end up heating up the hair...

    24 pin atx motherboard

Usually, most standard motherboards are wired such that ~75W of power is delievered to the PCI-E slot. However, there are some instances where you will find a motherboard that is a bit propitiatory in a nature (usually from Dell or HP) and does not actually deliver the full expected 75W to the...

RAM speed not working with dual-channel

Have you made sure to install the ram in the correct dimm slots corresponding to the same channel (ie. same color usually indicates same channel)? Also, I find it hard to believe that ram speed is causing you to experience longer load times in games. Though, the speed of your ram might generate...

I need help selecting parts for a low budget build- a gift for a friend.

The FX6300 is a 95W TDP 6 core cpu. Comparing the G4560 and FX6300, the G4560 would still do a bit better than the FX6300 in Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Wildlands, as the FX6300 is a bit slower in single threaded performance. However, your friend donating the chip and mb would mean saving ~160$ on...

Motherboard for Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Kaby Lake

For a decent 200 series chipset MB that is also relatively cheap, this might work: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Motherboard: ASRock B250M-HDV Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($74.50 @ Vuugo) Total: $74.50 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available...

Need help choosing parts for my pc build, HELP

For around the same price, you can go for the newer 7th gen i5-7500. You can also go for a newer motherboard that also supports up to 2400MHz ram, to making full use of the 2400MHz that you chose. You can also go for a cheaper GTX1060 with a slightly lower boost clock like you mentioned, or you...

I need help selecting parts for a low budget build- a gift for a friend.

The EVGA 750 Ti SSC would only require an additional 6-pin power connector, which your PSU would likely have at least 1 of. If you are worried that the PSU might be insufficient, you can always buy a nicer one. This is a link to a guide/list that someone made on our forums about good and bad...

Couple questions about my first build

ASUS ROG Maximus IX Code uses an 8-pin for its cpu, as you would expect from most higher end boards. But no need to worry, the EVGA G3 SuperNova will easily have all the power cables you will need; most modern PSU's rated for 400W or more will have an 8-pin for the cpu. The 8-pin will usually...

    CPU, power consumption and heat

Ah, then you are probably experiencing what I am as well LOL. I have a X6 1055T overclocked on a cheap MB with no VRM cooling. My case fans are all on 100% like an attack heli in the middle of a war zone. You normally SHOULD expect lower temps from a cpu with lower TDP; 125W TDP would...

What's best for wireless PC gaming?

It SHOULD technically work. However, there is another thing about usb adapters. If you look in the reviews, you will find many great ones, but also many bad ones that always point to disconnects and signal drops. My experience with usb wireless adapters tells me that usb adapters can completely...

I need help selecting parts for a low budget build- a gift for a friend.

It is a dual core, but it is hyperthreaded like an i3. The recommended specs for Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Wildlands is i7- 3770, 8GB ram, GTX 970, and preferable 4GB of vram from gpu. Its already a given that with the GTX750Ti and a small budget, your friend would end up running some lower...

    CPU, power consumption and heat

Noisy is mostly dependent on the moving parts you have in your rig, namingly fans and HDDs. If you want to it to be more quiet, replacing your MB+CPU+ram will do almost nothing for the noise, save for maybe a little bit of tiny coil whine from a cheaper motherboard. Fans make noise due to the...

What's best for wireless PC gaming?

For more reliable wifi and better bandwidth, I would suggest going for a PCI-E wireless adapter that has at least 3 good sized antennas. A usb dongle wireless adapter usually only has some short wires internally that act as antennas. A proper PCI/PCI-E wireless adapter usually has at least 1...

For a relevant yet cost efficient budget build, something like this might fit the bill: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor ($84.25 @ Vuugo) Motherboard: ASRock B250M-HDV Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($74.50 @ Vuugo)...

My PC keeps crashing and I really do not know what to do anymore...

Since we are thinking the PSU might be suspect, I won't recommend flashing the bios. If it is interrupted (by your suspect PSU), it could brick the board. Maybe try looking for a good working PSU that you could swap out to test if it is actually the issue first.
