Well, NVIDIA advertises that the 1060 would have 980-class performance, better than the 970, but that's the one that THEY manufacture. I don't know if the whole MSI thing would make a difference, but for sure the 1060 wil be more power-saving.

you can put one in the r3. some r3s come with the 980m, so, no problem. you just have to check if the chipset is compatible. the size is ok.
