Appreciate all the replies! Yes the system worked with the 450 before the upgrade and after if I swap it back in. I'll poke around in the bios and see if I can get it working, otherwise I'll check marketplace in my area for some a little less ewastey.

The old hp in question has an AS# 656846-002 mobo in it with a 2nd gen intel gpu, we bought the pc ages ago with a gtx 450 in it. I bought a 1660 super and a 550 watt psu to upgrade it. When I intalled the new parts it came to the boot screen an hung there, eventually giving me a beep followed...
