So i contacted my ISP and they'll be sending me some AP since according to them it is most likely other signals drowning out my signal. I doubt this is the case but it never hurts to try.

With a nice antenna? Probably better. What are you looking at? How much distance between you and the modem? Option to go wired? Personally i use a ASUS USB-AC51 and it's atleast as good as my phone if not better. Doesn't even have an antenna or anything.

In the router settings it says it's using channel 40/80 and the wlan utility program that came with my wifi adapter says it's using 40 i can also see all the channels used for other connections i pick up as well as encryption type etc. Regardless, it all worked fine until around a week ago and...

Eh i'll just call my ISP tomorrow and see what kind of ideas they have. The 2.4g was already on 20mhz and not on any channels the nearby connections from other house are on. The 5g one is on channel 40 on 80mhz and channel 40 is also only being used by me. However both have the same problem.

I had this too, either just unplugging the modem and replugging it will work or just wait a while.
