That processor is still capable, spend your money on GPU. You might want to wait for cannonlake, a die shrink of Skylake. I hope it will feature PCIe 4.0

I've got MSI H81 for my i5 too. If you don't need the extra features of the B85/H87 then you're good to go. About the price, mine is almost the same just £3 more

Don't listen to that guy, i3 isn't a low-end processor, you'll have a better performance in i3+280x than pairing a mid-range card to a high-end processor. You can get a B75 chipset for your i3, no need for a high-end mobo since you will not overclock but if have the money don't hesitate to buy...

It's normal for a GPU to downclock when it is not needed to save electricity and produce less heat. If you open a program that needs GPU power like games, it automatically clock itself depending on the situation. In short, it's perfectly normal.

You can use the integrated graphics of the i5 in the mean time since you said that you'll buy one later. FX6300 is more comparable to i3 in most games(currently). Good luck with your build and Happy Gaming!

Most of the pre-built computer isn't capable of overclocking, go to bios and see if the multiplier is unlocked before buying anything. If it's not unlocked, buy a P55 chipset motherboard.

I dont know about Thermaltake but Corsair is more reliable
