Your BIOS chip would not be on the HDD, but rather on the motherboard. It "should" look like a black box with about 8 little legs coming off of it.

Im having the same issue. I was reading that RAM can make this happen. I dont have any extra RAM laying around or I would have tired it. Maybe take a stick out (if you have 2) or if its a 4gb stick, try putting another one in and seeing if that does anything. Im curious why RAM would do that...
