    Cool, thanks. I got the Athlon 64 x2 6000 Dual Core 3.1ghz. Do you think the stock fan will be enough? The stock processor is a Sempron 2.6ghz.

    Thanks 13thmonkey. I have AMD Sempron le-1300 2.31 in now. Will athlon 64 x2 6000+ Dual core 3.1 or AMD FX 4100 Quad Core 3.6 work? If so, do I need to change the fan?

    I want to thank you LookItsRain. The transplant worked great!!! Too bad that was my sister-in-law's computer. I have an Inspiron 531. Seeing the increase in speed on my sister-in-law's computer, I want to speed mine up. Any suggestions on cpu upgrade?

    Thank you LookItsRain. I've already upgraded to Bios Version 1.0.15.. I've never replaced a processor, but I've replaced stuff like sound cards, etc.. I've read up on the process, but any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

    It has the Intell Pentium Dual Core 2160, 1.8 right now. I'm almost positive it has the LGA 775 socket. Will the Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 work? If so, do I need a bigger fan?
