I've had all parts to my build except the CPU and GFX card for 7 or 8 weeks and it looks like I probably won't get either this year :/ I was hoping the big Navi cards would satisfy some of the 3080 pre-orders to clear the backlog, but there seems to be even less of them!

I've been wondering about an upgrade for before Zen 2 came out. It wasn't a big enough improvement for me, so I thought I'd hold out for the next gen. So, I've been squirreling money away for some time and I'm now hoping to go for a 3080 and a 5090X... it's all getting quite exciting now :)

I currently play at 1440p, so I think I'll benefit from both an improved CPU and GPU. The rumours are that the IPC on Zen 3 may be 10-15% faster than Zen 2, so that should make them about the same individually but obviously the Zen 3 will have more cores. I certainly don't need the upgrade, but...
