Hate to say it, but it depends entirely on workload and OS/Compiler. Overall I'd expect 4770k to win out on Windows over a wider range of workloads. Linux is not as clear cut due to various compiler options/optimizations.

There is something you should look up regarding FSX because I can't remember. Basically if you limit the frames within FSX itself it will only use one core, but, if you set the frame rate to unlimited inside FSX and use an external frame limiter it takes advantage of more cores I know on my quad...

I wouldn't expect it to. I have a 965BE with a 7870XT and I haven't noticed any bottle-necking. This is purely anecdotal though, I've not run any tests etc.

As far as I remember it has 4 modules. Each module contains two x86 processing cores, 2 integer units and 1 floating point unit (as well as a variety of other components). Plenty of info here for you to make up your own mind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulldozer_%28microarchitecture%29

Was the thread scheduler patch for Win 7 and 8 or just 7? EDIT: still cant tell but the patches were KB2645594 and KB2646060
