[SOLVED] Moving MBR to another drive to install W7 on it

And to further clarify: I cannot install Windows 7 until I have dealt with the MBR. And I cannot delete the MBR from within the W7 installer.

[SOLVED] Moving MBR to another drive to install W7 on it

Yes I disconnected the other drives. So I should just delete the MBR. That should be fine? So just use diskpart clean? You misinterpreted my comment about the Ubuntu boot menu into the idea that I completely ignored your advice. Obviously, the ubuntu boot menu is not available when only the...

[SOLVED] Moving MBR to another drive to install W7 on it

Thank you for the response, I get the same error. Should I reformat the disk? It has an MBR partition of 350MB. Will I ruin booting into the other disks if I delete this partition? "The selected disk has an MBR partition table, on EFI systems windows can only install to GPT disks"

[SOLVED] Moving MBR to another drive to install W7 on it

Hello, W7 refuses to install because none of my drives are GPT. I want to install W7 onto my blank SSD. I did some googling but want to make sure I implement the right method based on my circumstance. I have four drives: Main::W8.1 (1TB SSD) Partition with Ubuntu (80GB P., total 2tb)...

    Question Powercycling after SSD replacement

I also tried resetting the CMOS, cleaning out the dust. I noticed a screw was falling out of the mobo. Then realized they were all loose. So it's possible that something got shorted out due to the mobo moving around too much. But it was working fine for quite awhile before I switched out my...

    Question Powercycling after SSD replacement

Hello, I upgraded one of my SSD's and my computer constantly power cycles now (turns on for a second, than turns off. It tries turning on again a few seconds later). My mobo has been kinda finicky in the past and the cables for my four drives are very tight with acute bends. Is it possible...

@Elizabeth If they actually send the key after payment... I told someone to run malwarebytes and hitman pro and they didn't bother. (I was home for reading break, so I can't do it myself :( ) head office downloaded a program to screenshot next time 'it' happens and they don't think the crypto...

CryptoWall 3 Is it really there?

Thank you, unfortunately the anti-virus program is chosen by head office. In-fact it changes almost year to year. I definitely, absolutely, completely agree with you! I'll see if I can get the boss to talk to head office... It's to bad that they're too nice to wring them out for such a crass...

CryptoWall 3 Is it really there?

I found evidence of what I think is the third generation of cryptowall on a computer at work. I found about 10 files. 5 images, 5 .html files of cryptowall threat things on the PC in the startup folder as well as another 10 under C:/. This meant that every time the computer was booted these...
