No popup of any sort. When I plug it in, the red LED on the stick lights up, but I think that's only because it is powered. I have other sticks, I just wanted to try repairing this one. It has been as good as dead for a year now, so if it is dead, then that's that. Could a wrong formatting...

As I said earlier, it doesn't show up in disk management nor device manager. There isn't even a hint that it's detected as something plugged in.

Approximately a year ago I cancelled a formatting operation and unplugged my USB stick and after that neither of my 2 computers recognized it. I don't have any important data on it, that's why I forgot about it. Now I found it again and I want to make it work if it's possible. Nothing shows up...

I would do that only if it's really necessary, because it'll take me a day or so to reinstall it.

Sorry for that, i did a fresh install, not an upgrade. As for the RAM part i have 4GB, and the minimum is 2GB for 64-bit based systems.

I recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8.1. It boots faster and all, but after a while programs keep freezing. And not specific programs, Chrome, File Explorer, Task Manager, Visual Studio, everything! Is it a win 8 issue, a hardware one or is it some software that causes this?
