    E8600 v Q9550

Hmm you might want to consider waiting for the new Core i7's. As per the previews and IDF 2008, Nehalem CPUs will be self-overclocking, and will deliver better single-threaded performance

    Asus P5E X38 or Asus P5Q PRO P45

yes the X38 boards are more expensive. but it has been proved that that there is no major difference b/w crossfire running in 2*16X and 2*8X, i'd go for a P45 board since it has lower temperatures than the X38 based boards. As for Asus boards, the P45 versions have the new EPU-6 engine with the...

    Q6600 or QX6800??

QX6800?? its nothing more than pricking holes in your pocket. A Q6600 should deliver you the same performance as QX6800 when OC'ed to 3.0Ghz, which isnt hard AT ALL. as far massive OC'ing is concerned, get a Q6700 which should do 3.8 with a charm. remember: the less you spend, the more frequent...

    q9300 vs q6600

if you want to OC beyond 3.5ghz then go for the Q6600, otherwise the Q9300 wins by a whisker (at stock) and runs a lot cooler than the former. ultimately its upto you to decide.

Stop by and check my build before i make it final

hmm... you could get a 8800GT instead, with a price difference of about 10~15$. MSI mobos are downright pathetic, choose b/w Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3L or an ABIT IP35- cheaper and much better

    thoughts please

Both Intel and ATI chipsets support Crossfire, but SLI is exclusive to Nvidia chipsets, since you'l be running your cards in X'Fire, intel is the best option for you. also you might want to go through this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/x48-790i-chipset,1940.html...

    Final Build need tips/suggestions

why are you buying the 8800GTS 640mb?? is it actually better than the new cards in the 100-120$ category; you couldve also chosen an HD3870 for a little extra price.

    My gaming rig.

Get a quad core only if: - You want to use your pc for video encoding, photoshop, and 3D/CAD stuff. - You dont plan to upgrade for a long time. If you're used to upgrading frequently, then get an E8400 instead of the E8500. why pay 70 bucks extra for that 160Mhz more clock? whn you can easily...

2 possible (and almost identical) builds in one thread!

get a quad core for your 2nd build..likely a q6600 or a q6700. it will be much better

New build around this mobo I bought.

Antec NeoPower 650W is available for around 15 bucks more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=antec+neopower and that too with a 120mm fan! and yeah 8800GTS is an excellent choice. dont even think twice about it

what's the Lowest CPU voltage possible for Q6600?

Help A Newbie Build A Computer!

get a GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L instead, which will save you around 30 bucks. if you're NOT in for video encoding and renderring then get an E7200, probably the best VFM dual core out there.

    My new Build!

why are you buying a 9800GTX when its only 5~8% faster than the 8800GTS? as for your mobo, P35/X38 should be more than enough and that Rosewill PSU sounds a bit shady to me (several PSU's priced at 25$!!), look for something better as Deadboots said
