    Three Sticky Sticks of Ram

Hey guys, So I have a problem with adding RAM onto my X79A-GD45(8D) motherboard. I have two RAM sticks already installed - G-Skill (4GBx2) Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 Dual Kit. One in slot 1 and another in slot three as my motherboard manual tells me. I'm trying to add a third, just a spare out of a...

Using old PCI-E Cables for New Graphics Card

Ahhhh, okay. I must have got those cables from when I bought my PSU. I assumed they came with my GPU. Thanks for clearing that up!

Using old PCI-E Cables for New Graphics Card

Hey guys, So i bought a 1080ti and its running fine at the moment. Except the new power cables (GPU to PSU cable) didn't reach my PSU. So I used my old power cables from my r9 290. At the moment there's no instability or whatever, but could there be problems down the line? Should I get a new...

    Paging File Problems

Hi guys, I have 8GB of Ram, as well as ample disk space on my hard drive (well one of them at least), however windows keeps coming up with prompts to change my paging file space. I have 1TB free on my second hard drive, but only 7GB on my SSD which has my Windows 7 files loaded on to it. How...

    Upgrade Path from X79

Thanks for your opinions guys! Hmm, I was thinking more along the lines of the next Witcher game if you guys know of it? Not sure if my i7 3820 is going to cut it for long, but I don't really feel like changing motherboard to an LGA1150 since the new LGA2011-v3 or whatever is out and I imagine...

    Upgrade Path from X79

Hi guys, I'm currently running on an x79 platform with an i7 3820 and an r9 290 I'm wondering what would be the best upgrade path for me? I'm looking to install the new r9 390 whenever it decides to show its face but I'm concerned about the longevity of x79 and my processor specifically? Long...

    PC Randomly Shutdowns

Hi guys, I'm having a few problems with a PC I've built. Every so often it randomly shutdowns, and then tries to reboot and fails many times. It just powers on for a second and powers down a few times before starting up again. This is happening kind of regularly now. I recently OC'd my i7 3820...

I'm getting microstutter in almost every game.

Is your HDTV a Samsung by any chance? I had to set the HMDI port to 'PC' using the remote, which fixed a few display problems I was having. Although I suppose this would only be true for you if you're using a Samsung and are using the HDMI ports. If this applies to you go to the source list on...

    Is my 290 underperforming?

So far all I can think of that might solve the problem is raising the voltages/power limit on a form of overclocking software

    Is my 290 underperforming?

It varies quite a bit as far as FPS is concerned, but usually it's under performing when compared to review benchmarks. There's also alot of micro-stuttering and general FPS drops which make some games almost unplayable. I've tried 13.2 and 14.1 drivers, but I'm using 14.2 atm. I'm using 2 -...

    GPU-Z bus interface question

Well I forced it and you're right there is an increase, although it wasn't particularly noticeable :P

    Is my 290 underperforming?

I have the same problems, mine seems to about as well as the R9 270 I had, or at least not markedly better than that card anyway!

    GPU-Z bus interface question

Hi guys. I was looking at GPU-Z before and noticed the bus interface section reports mine as being PCI-E 3.0 capable but running in 2.0 I was wondering what exactly does this mean and would this make any difference to how well my graphics card performs? As far as the components in question go...

MSI R9 290 Gaming Usage stuck at 100%

The newest catalyst driver (the beta 14.2 I think) ended up fixing the problems I had anyway! And yeah, if you use google chrome or something similar I think that uses the GPU to speed things up a little.

MSI BIOS & i7 Overclock problems

I tried all the things you've suggested, all to no avail :'( Although I have no USB to update the BIOS with sadly. Do you think it sounds like a BIOS problem?
