In a few days im going to pick up a gaming pc from someone and before I buy I want to make sure everything runs the way it is supposed to. How would I test the components of the pc to know what’s right or wrong?

Currently I have an i5 6600k in my z170a motherboard and i was wondering if i could upgrade my cpu to an i7 7700k without having to buy a new motherboard, thanks!
