Hard Drives Take Long Time to Respond After Being Idle

Why Floppy? These aren't floppy drives. Also, I don't want to disable the drives, just make it so they don't "sleep" and are always online.

Hard Drives Take Long Time to Respond After Being Idle

How did you disable them all in the BIOS? I think I'm going to have to do that too but I have no idea what to look for once I get into BIOS.

Hard Drives Take Long Time to Respond After Being Idle

I knew that about "Green" drives, which is why I made sure not to buy one. Still, I could see how this could potentially be an intentional feature on my external drives (a portable Seagate and a Fantom G Force with its own power supply) but this is happening even with my internal Samsung SSD drives.

Yes, I've checked that and it is, so that isn't the problem.

Hard Drives Take Long Time to Respond After Being Idle

I'm using Windows 7 x64, and I have 3 internal hard drives (2x SSD, 1x mechanical) and 2 external hard drives (connected via USB 3.0) and when they've been inactive for a while, it takes about 7-9 seconds for them to come them back on line, which is very annoying, especially when I'm in a hurry...

Hard Drives Take Time to "Wake Up"

That never happened with the internal hard drives (both mechanical) on my old computer though; when I clicked on a folder to open it, it opened immediately. Now I have to wait maybe 7-8 seconds before anything happens.

    USB 3.0 Network Drive Question

If I connect a hard drive with a USB 3.0 port to a router with a USB 3.0 port and the router connects wirelessly to 2 computers--one with USB 3.0 & one with USB 2.0--will the computer with USB 3.0 get USB 3.0 speeds when transferring files to/from the hard drive that's connected to the router...

Samsung 950 Pro Worth It for My Needs?

I'm going back and forth on whether to order the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 512GB SSD for my new Skylake system, mainly for my OS (Windows 7 Pro 64 bit), apps and virtual machines, and could really use some input. The synthetic benchmarks are impressive; the real-world testing I've seen much less so...

I just purchased the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming-3 motherboard and was planning to install the new Samsung 950 PRO M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD and make it my boot drive using Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit; has anyone gotten that to work with this motherboard? If so, any advice/tips on making it work? Oh...

New System - Need RAM, GPU & Cooling Advice

Thanks for your suggestions. Believe me, I wish I could build this system myself but the way my life is currently going that would be a bad idea. One crisis after another, I just don't have the patience right now and can't deal with one more thing going wrong. Any idea when the non-k i7-6700...

New System - Need RAM, GPU & Cooling Advice

I need a new desktop system and this time around I was thinking of getting one custom-built, probably by ComputerLX.com. I'd like to get some input from people who have experience building systems. First, I'm not a gamer, nor do I do video editing. I'll be using this computer primarily for...
