News Intel spins off Network and Edge group as standalone business after posting $2.9b loss — seeking investors for NEX division amid massive internal r...

Edge? Sure. Network? Tan has lost his mind. I understand he's a penny pincher and they need that but he's pinching the wrong pennies, firing the wrong people, and hasn't changed Intel's internal culture, which is toxic at best. This is another move in a long list of moves designed to keep them...

News Intel Arc Xe3 Celestial GPU enters pre-validation stage

Until the drivers and game support get better it doesn't matter. Meanwhile Intel is more focused on productivity than gaming on their gaming GPUs. The drivers are why there is no high end Battlemage SKU. If the drivers worked as intended the A750 would work like a 3060 TI and the A770 would...

News Unpowered SSD endurance investigation finds severe data loss and performance issues, reminds us of the importance of refreshing backups

I have a 10 year old OCZ SATA III SSD I've have had off for 3 years. When I saw this, I took it and the M.2 NVMe that housed the OS that I had paired with said drive and powered them on. To my surprise, there was nothing gone. No corruption. No issues. Granted mine were improperly stored in the...

    News AMD's mobile X3D chips come to desktops — Minisforum's $599 MoDT debuts with Ryzen 9 7945HX3D

They launched this chip in 2023. Where were you? My current laptop runs an R9 7940HX, the non 3D version. It's from last year, pre 9000 series and guess what!? The 9955HX3D was launched LAST year. Why is this article an article? The sponsor paid for it is NOT a good answer. Please, get back to...

News Core Ultra 5 225F barely outperforms Core i5-13600 in Geekbench — low-end Ultra 5 chip comes with six P-core and four E-cores

No. It's like having two different year Ferraris with similar performance and one has a super charger and the other doesn't. You take the super charger out of the faster one and compare however this entire analogy is literally CPUs to Ferraris and is another apples to oranges comparison.

News Zotac is selling RTX 50-series GPUs directly to customers to thwart scalpers

This isn't news. They've always done this. Then they send a business card for volume sales in the box.

News Core Ultra 5 225F barely outperforms Core i5-13600 in Geekbench — low-end Ultra 5 chip comes with six P-core and four E-cores

The incredible part is it does it using less power and no hyper threading. I don't think people see the IPC uplift. Comparing apples to oranges. I'd love to see a i5 13600 vs CU 5 225f while the i5 has hyper threading turned off.

News Garbage truck driver finds a working 32-core Threadripper, RTX 2080 Ti gaming PC in the trash — the PC powered on after a good cleaning and a few d...

When I was in my mid 20s I drove livery. Mostly luxury cars to the airport. One day I got a 5am airport call so I went. While waiting I noticed a tower in the trash area of the complex. Dell tower. There was a monitor next to it. Full size CRT. I put the case in my trunk and the monitor on my...

News Apple M4 Max CPU transcribes audio twice as fast as the RTX A5000 GPU in user test — M4 Max pulls just 25W compared to the RTX A5000's 190W

To be most effective, ALL of the best producers, beat makers and artists I know create using Mac and PC as well as arrays of analog equipment and specialty items. Mac has always been known for high quality audio work. The first digital studios used Mac. The PC caught up quick, as always, and...
