I'm aware what number of cores are common. I want to know what roughly is the average, for my project I'm gonna need to develop it to run multiple processes at once, I don't want to design it to do 8 at once if only 5% of phones have 8 cores.

For a project I'm working on I need to know the average number of cores inside the popular mobile phones from the last two or three years. Even a rough idea would be appreciated.

GTX 1080 just got announced and I plan on getting that, however I only have a 1080p 60Hz monitor which a GTX 1080 is overkill so planning to get a new monitor but dont know what would be a better gaming experience, 4k at 60 FPS or 1440p at 120/144 FPS?

Im not entirely certain on this as the AMD Fx 670K is rarely mentioned anyway.
