Researchers Bring Threading to Word Processing

matt87_50they managed to move a big chunk of processing, that if it wasn't for LAZY CODERS, wouldn't even need to be done, onto another core If processing power is cheaper than coder labour, what you call lazy is actually what most people call smart. Right tool for the job, ya know?

Lucky StarCraft II Beta Gamers Can Invite Friends

doorspawnSC2 isn't as good as it was hyped to be IMO. To me, if WC3 were to receive a balance patch (or a reduction in item importance), it'd be the better game.It seems, after all, SC2 is still really all about SC1 style button mashing. I guess that was the intent, but it doesn't make it fun to...

Corsair USB Padlock 2 Has 256-bit AES, Keypad

    1) Password is limited to digits. Unless it wipes after X amount of tries you don't need to break AES, you need to automate password entry. 2) They say it's secure if the drive is disassembled, but the password and AES key both need to live somewhere in it. It might be hard to hack, but I'm...

The StarCraft II Beta Part 1: Download, Install

rigaudioDoes this violate any terms of StarCraft's NDA? They decided to lift confidentiality (source is a post on their beta forums) so people can screenshot and record all they like.

Blizzard Begins StarCraft II Closed Beta Begins

Just posting to brag. Downloading it now... good timing too, it's our spring break equivalent at my university, and I was all afraid I'd have to spend time coding this week ~_~

    A Wireless Keyboard With A Built-in Trackpad

I'd consider this, but I've already got a bluetooth touchpad that I'm using. It has a laser pointer too, and I'm quite fidgety ~_~ On top of that I think that if I get bored of the touchpad I might try the wiimote thing first before upgrading my couch controls.

Fusion-io Unviels PCI-e SSD for Gamers

Woot for triple post! Typically you can distinguish between bit and byte listing by GB for gigabyte and Gb for gigabit, which is the convention used in the article.

Fusion-io Unviels PCI-e SSD for Gamers

Apparently making the Cartman face cuts off my comment, but the important bit made it *greater than less than*

Fusion-io Unviels PCI-e SSD for Gamers

philologosStupid question here...SATA2 is 3.0Gb/s, no? Then why is it 300Mb/s? Shouldn't it be 3000Mb/s?3 billion is not 300 million, but rather 3000 million. Am I missing something here? Gigabits and gigabytes, 8 bits in a byte (or sometimes decimal conversions are used instead of octal >

Fusion-io Unviels PCI-e SSD for Gamers

Get SlayerS_`BoxeR` or any *REAL* gamer's name on it and I'll be impressed. Only reason I know who Fata1ty is is that companies put his name on things for some stupid reason.

    • 6 Awesome Robot Wars Match Ups

Money on Marvin over Bender. If Marvin can sit around and wait for the end of the universe, I'm sure Bender would eventually just get bored of listening to "brain the size of the planet and here I am stuck in the ring with you", and forfeit to go steal something.

Microsoft Owns Patent to Restricting Your Software

guess who, you only need to allow toms+bestofmedia. Yeah, it's still annoying, but you do get to get rid of most of the useless possibly infected 3rd party scripts.

I void warranties, does that count?
