I think you can CF it with any card using the same chip (Tahiti / Bonaire). So a HD7970 or R9 280X would do.

Still, if you are considering a 1050Ti maybe also look into the Rx560? Its a new unit (no rebrand) and a bit cheaper and slower than the Nvidia. Unfortunately all better AMD offerings are price-inflated and not worth it, a Rx570 would cost ~300..

Only recent GPU under 350 USD right now is the GTX1060 3GB, and while its decent its not a huge upgrade when coming from a 280. If you can get your hands on a second hand R9 390 for ~300 you have a better upgrade imo.

Are you guys aware of any shops still selling the Rx 4xx chips new or is it really only 5xx now?

So I wanted to upgrade to Rx480 when it came out but unfortunately prices almost immediately rose to levels far higher than suggested retail price.. So I waited but with Rx580 things are even worse. I onderstand now is a bad time for GPU upgrades but Id still like to know which GPUs are good...
