Gigabyte Motherboard issue - shutting down on startup before BIOS

I'm using a Gigabyte H77m-D3H in a rebuild. Never had any problems with this board for the last 4 years. Just put the motherboard in a new HTPC case with a new PSU. I noticed that my SSD was running really slow so I went into the BIOS setup and selected "Use Optimum settings", saved and...

    Changing from a Win7 RAID1 to a Motherboard RAID1

I'll see how they perform when being setup by the MB RAID controller. It may be the cause of all the resyncing but I I think it's because the WIn7 RAID copies the data to the primary drive first and then copies from the primary drive to the secondary drive afterwards. If I get the same issue...

    Changing from a Win7 RAID1 to a Motherboard RAID1

Yep, Western Digital Greens. :) The WD site claims that they are OK to use in RAID1: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/996/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDI1MzYxMTMzL3NpZC81Z29ZOW1nbQ%3D%3D

    Changing from a Win7 RAID1 to a Motherboard RAID1

I have 2x 4GB HDDs setup as a mirrored drive in Windows7. The issue I have is that whenever I copy any data to the drive it takes ages to resync, I estimate that it copies the new data at about 7MB/s however it also has to read the rest of the whole drive during the resync which takes about 12...

Moving Win7 mirrored HDDs (software RAID1) to a new PC

So thanks for all your help (!) and here's what happened in the end; I installed win7 64 bit onto a partition of the original win7 32 bit OS drive so I could dual boot. I could still see and use the RAID in the original OS but the option to remove the disk under Disk Management(as per...

Moving Win7 mirrored HDDs (software RAID1) to a new PC

OK, another question, instead of using Win7 RAID on my new build, can I now break the Mirror and it will give me 2 independent normal drives each containing the same data? If so, how do I do this in my old OS config without losing any data? I'm now thinking of just manually backing up all of...

Moving Win7 mirrored HDDs (software RAID1) to a new PC

Quick update, I installed the new motherboard and CPU and the old win7 32bit OS boots up fine so I can still access the RAID1 drives at this time. This means I am able to change any of the settings before migrating to the new OS if needed. Is there anything I can do now to make it easier to...

Moving Win7 mirrored HDDs (software RAID1) to a new PC

I lost my motherboard so I'm going to use this opportunity to upgrade from Win7 32bit to Win7 64bit. I will be upgrading the motherboard and the CPU but keeping the original OS SSD drive. My problem is that I was using 2x 3GB HDDs as data storage and they were configured as a mirrored drive by...

Upgrading to a better gaming PC

I am in the middle of building a gaming PC but I am stuck at the decision of which CPU and motherboard will work best with what I already have. I already have the following being used with an old CPU, motherboard and RAM which works great for some games in 1080p but it is bottlenecking other...
