    New card black screen

no problem. anyway, i dont think that its that your model mobo cant support the newer card in general, but just that theres something up with your particular board. but like i said, this is just a guess and its the only thing i can think to try since you said your old card works but numerous...

    New card black screen

and im assuming youre using the same cable to connect the card to the monitor? man, thats weird. i dont know what the issue is but it seems something about your rig doesnt want to play nice with a 1060. the only thing i can think of is an issue with the mobo, but i dont know what it would be. if...

    CPU or GPU upgrade first?

well, youre simply wrong. there will always be a bottleneck in a system, but you want it to be you gpu so that you are getting the most performance possible. and at 1080p or lower an i5 simply cannot keep up with a card more powerful than 1060 level. the card at this res can simply do more work...

    i5 7400 with GTX 1070

at 1080p an i5 will bottleneck a 1070. i just recently upgraded from a 390 and a 6600k to a 7700k and a 1080. its definitely worth it, even for 1080p gaming. if you can get a good deal. but upgrade the cpu first.

    Beginner asking about CPU OC

theres plenty of guides online, but ill give you a quick walkthrough. you want to get a temp monitoring program and a program to monitor core voltage. some will do both. also youll need a stress test to test for stability, id recommend occt. then in the bios you want to sync all cores to run at...

    CPU or GPU upgrade first?

dont listen to people say a 1080 is overkill for 1080p, its not. plus it gives you head room and allows you to play at higher res if so desired. or as in your case allows for higher refresh rate gaming. an i5 will bottleneck anything above a 1060 at 1080p and that will really hinder you if you...

    i7-7700k Safe Temperatures

youre idle temps might be a little high depending on ambient, but 85 under prime is fine and 50-60s while gaming is all good. intel has directly stated that anything under 100c is fine, but you wouldnt want to run sustained temps above 80. 70 certainly isnt tops. you could run it at 70c for...

    GTX 1080Ti + Ryzen 1600X = Bottleneck?

thats simply not true, dont just spew nonsense. there are numerous benches(including the one i posted) showing an r7 lagging behind an i7 by 30fps with just a 1080, let alone a 1080ti. so, how the hell is saying at 60hz it wont matter an "extreme conclusion?" lol at 1080p 120+hrz the ryzen...

    Temprature 75C° not even gaming. i7 7700k

yeah, the auto oc was probably bumping more voltage then necessary, but even with that said 75 degrees most certainly is not high for a 7700k period, let alone a OCed one. like i said, the voltage was likely too high so it was ramping up to higher temps than need be, but the spiky nature of the...

    GTX 1080Ti + Ryzen 1600X = Bottleneck?

games are only going to get more demanding. anyway op, at 1080p yes any ryzen chip will bottleneck a 1080ti. hell, ryzen 7 even bottlnecks a 1080 at 1080p(http://www.legitreviews.com/cpu-bottleneck-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-tested-on-amd-ryzen-versus-intel-kaby-lake_192585) but at 60hrz it wont...

GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 780 Ti or GTX 970 for 1080p gaming... What should i buy?

the 1050ti will be a pretty big step down from your 390. the 970 is the closest. you could try to get a cheap 570. but that extra vram on the 390 does make a difference. so, personally id go used 390... or try to find a 480/580. or as mentioned save up for a 6gb 1060.

    Temprature 75C° not even gaming. i7 7700k

corsairs pre applied paste is very good actually. i had that on my h115i, and then reseated the cooler with thermal grizzly and my temps actually went up... with what is considered the best paste on the market. anyway, the 7700k can run hot and spiky. what are you doing when hitting 75? like i...

    What should I upgrade?

unfortunately, to see any legit improvement in performance youre going to have to move on from that platform, since pretty much any card stronger than a 960 will be bottlenecked by any cpu you could upgrade to.

    From i5 6500 to i7 6700?

if he can get a 6700 a fair bit cheaper than any of the others then its definitely worth considering.
