My problem was solved! My father took a look and was able to plug in the 8 pin connector but in a fit of irony he could not put in the 4 pin! The manual is also misleading. On the overview chapter it implies that either the 4 pin or 8 pin could work. But in a later section a footnote says both...

If the sticker you're referring to has a barcode on it then the last four digits are 1003. Anything else to check?
