both cards are now crap since they both started using Micron memory ICs instead of Samsung .... no much overclocking potential anymore and out of the box performance is laggy ... How come you say that the FTW stays at 60C ? even the much cooler Strix can not stay there and it gets in the 70s...

Looks good to me, i don't see any issues with that build ... this is a good non-overclocking build ....

I sure will RMA it, that is the easy part, the actual question is how to make sure to get a GTX 1070 with a Samsung? the thing is that even at stock speed of 8Ghz the Micron is objectively slower in gaming performance and benchmark score, so it must have worse internal timings which explains why...

Elpida = Micron right? What are you referring to as luck of the draw here? a card having Samsung vs. Micron? i do not see this the same as a silicon lottery since they come equipped with a certain RAM type in batches ... so it is not like that in the same batch you will have one great...

So i have two ASUS Strix GTX 1070 OC cards, one purchased in August and has Samsung memory ICs (according to GPU-Z) ... that card is a beast ... can easily do +100 core 2113Mhz effective which throttles down to 2088 consistent and stable during load and +700 memory effective 9400Mhz very smooth...
