My computer crashed and now the hard drive has a corrupt master file table, which Windows could not recover. Of course, I hadn't backed it up in a few months, so I'm wondering what programs you knowledgeable people would recommend/have had success with in recovering files in similar situations...

Also, how do I know the partition table type? TestDisk said an EFI GPT partition table was detected, so should I just go with that instead of Intel?

Ah, I see. I'm going to follow your instructions and try TestDisk one more time, but if it gets stuck again I guess I'll just move onto trying to recover the data before I replace it with an SSD. Thank you again for the help!
