Controlling Remote Controlled LED Strip with a PC?

OK maybe I'll take this question from a different angle then. I'm looking to buy a (preferably 25 ish dollar) RGB LED strip to do some under-desk lighting, but want it to be bright enough to be worth the money, so anything directly USB powered (and therfore just plugged into my PC) is out, since...

Controlling Remote Controlled LED Strip with a PC?

I am looking at buying one (not sure which yet, but generically thinking here) of those Remote-controlled RGB LED strips, where the remote has a bunch of different buttons on it for individual colors. What I'd like to do, mostly as a pet project, is find some way wherein I can buy any kind of IR...

Looking to start a NAS setup but have no clue what to even Google

So I have recently come into quite a bit of money, but that's irrelevant. Basically my max budget here is 2 or 3 grand, and the less I have to pay at the outset, the more I can pay into it as time goes on. What I'd like to do, is set up a storage server of some kind on my network, either a...

Are all of my parts compatible for a gaming PC set up?

Edit: Sorry didn't see you already had. If they were incompatible it would warn you. Put them all into pcpartpicker.com. It will check compatibility for you :D

    Quiet, Bright, Red LED Fans?

I'm looking to upgrade 5/6 fans in my Corsair 760T. It has spaces for 3 120mm fans on the top, 2 120 or 140s on the front, so I either need 5 120s or 3 120s and 2 140s, I'm not picky. What I'm hoping is that someone has a recommendation for the following: In order of how much I care about it...

    Corsair 760t fan setup

Sorry for being late to the party, but I would recommend you change the top fans to either be intake or not put fans there- positive air pressure (more coming in than going out) will keep the overall temperatures in the case cooler and also nearly eliminate dust buildup. I also highly recommend...

    Advice on pc build

Realistically, yes. But, if you can afford the i7, it would not hurt by any means.

If you can afford the extra 100 bucks, an i7 is never going to be a bad thing.

    Advice on pc build

As far as the i7, most gamers will argue that you won't see much (if any) of a boost in performance unless you do like video rendering or a lot of photoshop on the side. That stuff requires more cores, but really an i5 is more than enough for even the best games right now with a decent GPU.

    Advice on pc build

I like it. I like it a lot. HAF is a seriously good case for, well, airflow. ASUS makes some pretty solid motherboards, and you can't go wrong with an unlocked Intel proc. G.Skill makes some of the best RAM for the price, and Antec is a solid brand for PSU overall.

    Should I buy a desktop or a Laptop (I'm a student)

Depends. Will you be doing any gaming whatsoever? If so> desktop right away. The parts on a laptop are very close together and rely on one single fan for cooling, and that is just not a pretty picture for higher end games. Beyond that, it is just realizing that you pay about 150 bucks more in a...

Will these components be compatible with one another?

THe best way to tell this kind of thing is to put them through PCPartpicker.com. If you do that, it will flag any non-compatible parts. That said, your CPU is AMD and your Motherboard is Intel, so no these parts are not compatible. Other than that, everything looks good, though you may want a...

I just built my first computer and need help on my gpu (R9 280x)

Your GPU will need at least one, possibly two, connectors from your power supply that will have either 6 or 8 pins (referred to as 6+2). The card itself will seat into the PCI express slot on your motherboard, and your HDMI or DVI cables from your monitor(s) will connect to the back of it. Hope...
