Question Strange issue - KVM stops working & sometimes ethernet card. Reboot fixes

Small update. Since we have not been using a web browser on the PC having the issue it hasn't come up yet to my knowledge.

Question Strange issue - KVM stops working & sometimes ethernet card. Reboot fixes

Well, let me say it again then. This issue, where the keyboard and mouse, case USB port AND ethernet stops working is when a web browser is running. Sometimes it happens the moment the browser is opened. Sometimes itll be as Im checking emails after the browser has been running for several...

Question Strange issue - KVM stops working & sometimes ethernet card. Reboot fixes

Uptime between reboots wouldn't have much to do with it. I leave my PC on at home for weeks at a time. Legacy USB is a possibility I suppose. I tried even using a different browser than chrome, but today the moment I opened the web browser the same thing happened. It's always when we open a web...

Question Strange issue - KVM stops working & sometimes ethernet card. Reboot fixes

Update: I plugged a keyboard and mouse straight in to the problem PC (still used the switcher to change video source). Didn't seem to have an issue so we went ahead and ordered a new KVM. (Which is an IOGear brand, as was the previous). Seemed to be fine for a few days but then the Keyboard...

Question Strange issue - KVM stops working & sometimes ethernet card. Reboot fixes

So, to answer a few questions. Yes, the switching is manual. There is a button that runs to the hub. The problem is only the new PC. No, we aren't swapping around the ethernet. That would be silly. Because this is a business and the PC must be used pretty much all the time, it's really hard...

Question Strange issue - KVM stops working & sometimes ethernet card. Reboot fixes

I have a strange issue that I cannot seem to figure out. A work PC that I built is having an issue of USB / Ethernet cutting out. While this may not sound like a software issue, I have a feeling it may be. Quick Specs - Ryzen 3400G APU - Asus B450 - Samsung EVO m.2 (if you need anything for some...

PC Freezing when playing some games but no errors from Memtest

Well, it froze when it read about 75C. When I ran it a second time after I cleaned the stock heatsink I stopped it when it hit 75C but it still kept going a bit longer. It reached maybe 78C or so. You have to realize this is like a minute in, and it was climbing. So to me it's getting too hot...

PC Freezing when playing some games but no errors from Memtest

Well OK then, it seems the stock CPU cooler that came with the AMD isn't working much. After just about a minute of the stress test the temp hits about 75C and it froze the first test. So, I shall go and purchase a good CPU cooler and hopefully that should take care of the issue. Thankfully it...

PC Freezing when playing some games but no errors from Memtest

Well, as I said I do run EVGA Precision x16 so I know its not the GPU getting too hot. I can't imagine its a heat issue anyways since generally heat will cause a system to shut down, not freeze. I will however try the stress test programs and leave a CPU monitor up just to be sure.

PC Freezing when playing some games but no errors from Memtest

So this problem began a few weeks back and it's rather intermittent. For example, last night I played Path of Exiles with some friends for a few hours then played Assassins Creed Unity after. This morning when playing ACU again it locked up twice. No blue screen, just system freeze. About a...

A game causes my PC to shut off and can only start after clearing CMOS

Ah right. Well, the crash I referred to isn't the actual problem. And looking at it, I probably shouldn't have included it. The crash was just a simple crash to desktop, which can happen in any game these days. The shut off and CMOS clear to power up is the main problem. But hey, if you think...

AC:U causes my PC to shut off and can only start after clearing CMOS

Well, the odd thing is that error has popped up at times I wasn't at the computer. Hence I am not sure if it is related or not. I do always run at the native resolution. To me, the really odd part about it all is that both times the day I installed the game, it runs fine. Both times it was the...

A game causes my PC to shut off and can only start after clearing CMOS

Westom, I never said crash, I said turn off. Which means off. There is no crash, it literally turns off like I pulled the power cord. The reason I asked my question, which you quoted, is that I have always been under the assumption that the CMOS battery was only used when the system was off to...

A game causes my PC to shut off and can only start after clearing CMOS

Westom, just know, I am not being snarky or anything, I am just trying to clarify. So you are saying that a bad battery would cause a PC to shut off at a specific point of a specific game booting up? This is a repeatable problem. It happened twice in the same exact way. Installed and play first...

AC:U causes my PC to shut off and can only start after clearing CMOS

Id say the game is doing something, but I am not sure what. I haven't seen anyone else with the same problem so most likely there is something odd on my system that the game messes with in such a way to cause the shutdown. I did look in the event viewer and I saw over and over the warning...
