Yes...the X2 line is cheaper now. I'm happy to see some value added to the Opteron line. Good "investment" IMO. Opterons have a larger cache too (1mb per core) than the X2 you mentioned.
But... it's your pocket who will decide what's best.
It could be done yes...but, it would be a problem to get the ghost software to recognize the raid controller to do the job. Also, somehow this type of clonning not always is a successful procedure, leading to all sorts of erros while using the pc.
Seems you're using an "auto-overclock" option. This way, the mother decides what voltage to send to the processor. This variation is normal.
It would be abnormal if you set it manualy and it would drop/raise that much alone.
