[SOLVED] Thermal Paste in AM4 Socket - Computer Won't Post

I hope this is the case - if we can get it to at least post without having to buy new hardware, we can sort out the idle temperatures later provided it isn't fried. I'll attempt to buy some alcohol in the morning and keep you posted. Thanks for your help.

[SOLVED] Thermal Paste in AM4 Socket - Computer Won't Post

I'm yet to see it myself but that sounds like the way to go. I was just told that the CPU was idling at ~70C before shutting off, which isn't critically high as far as I know. Is it possible that the CPU is cooked? I was also quite frustrated by this - it's hard to troubleshoot myself if I'm...

[SOLVED] Thermal Paste in AM4 Socket - Computer Won't Post

Hi guys, My friend has recently attempted to build his first gaming PC, only to get a small amount of thermal paste stuck in his CPU socket and on his CPU. After a BIOS update, he managed to get his computer to post long enough to install Windows and a couple of programs, only for the computer...

Code 43 - Windows has stopped this device from working because it has reported problems - GTX970/Win 10

Thanks for the help everyone. Writing to let people know that a critical Windows update occurred which led to the graphics card not working. I've done a System Restore to before the date and it seems to be working fine for now, so hopefully it stays that way.

Code 43 - Windows has stopped this device from working because it has reported problems - GTX970/Win 10

Thank you :) Now that I think of it, I don't think I am. I'm not home so I will attempt an update when I get back. I'll do some research beforehand too. Thanks for your help!

Code 43 - Windows has stopped this device from working because it has reported problems - GTX970/Win 10

Haha okay, good to know :) I was afraid that it was a hardware issue considering it was so sudden, but plugging it into another computer seemed to work so I wasn't sure. I still have another 2 yrs on my Gigabyte 970 but I hear that their support is horrendous so it should be quite the journey...

Code 43 - Windows has stopped this device from working because it has reported problems - GTX970/Win 10

Hi guys, Today I've had some issues with my graphics card not displaying the correct resolution. Instead of displaying 1920 x 1080, the screen resolution has been stuck at 1024 x 768. Not sure how this came about, but when I was at my computer today I heard a USB ejection noise before the...

    i7 6700 R9 390 or i5 6500 GTX 980

Hello TomsHardware. I'm about to embark on my first build, but I need some input on my final choices for my CPU and GPU. I'm not planning on OC'ing, hence why I have no K processors in the mix (and they are also more expensive). My resolution is 1080p. i7 choice: I do video editing and...

    CPU Choice (i5 6600, 6600k, i7 6700)

What I meant by '6500 or 6600' is what one out of the two would you go for? :p Sorry for the confusion.

    CPU Choice (i5 6600, 6600k, i7 6700)

That's okay. Most parts we can get here, others we can't though. Australian prices for PC parts are more expensive, unfortunately. I'll definitely look into that cooler though, and I can get the Asus motherboard here too. Thanks for all your help RCFProd :)

    CPU Choice (i5 6600, 6600k, i7 6700)

I think I am going to go with the 6600k. That way I am sure it will last even just a little longer in the future, and I can get good performance out of it when I am ready to overclock. Thanks for all your help, it was very much appreciated.

    CPU Choice (i5 6600, 6600k, i7 6700)

Very nice build options. I'll have to downgrade the case to an S340 and the graphics card to a 970, as the parts in Australia are much more expensive, but definitely some good options there. I'll definitely consider overclocking then. Thanks for all your help. I'm still a noob when it comes to...
