Thank you very much for all your comments! As I stated, I had plans on going up to 8 GB RAM later, which was the reason I didn't want to get 2x2 GB now. I was under the impression that 4 GB is still not really limiting for normal use, but seems like I have to reconsider that part.
The budget...
Hello!
I am planning a new build, with gaming as the main focus (possible games include Skyrim, BF3 and a bunch of older titles). Besides gaming, I will use it for basic stuff like browsing the web, writing stuff and doing excel-sheets. I am an engineer, so there is a possbility that sometime...
I'll probably stay with air-cooling. As I'm not planning on overclocking, only using a single graphic card and so on, I don't think I'll gain anything (other than some bragging rights :D ) by going watercooled.
Thank you very much for all replies so far!
The reason I picked the cards in the round-up is simply that these are the cheapest alternatives I've found in stores around here (and in in-country webstores). The Twin Frozr e.g. already goes up to 235 €, which obviously isn't that much more when...
Hello!
I'm planning a new build quite soon. Most probably I will order the parts so that I have them by mid-May, as I will be moving to a smaller town then, which means I would have to pay postage if I order at a later point, while I now simply can pick up most parts from proper pc-stores for...
Yeah, obviously a SSD coupled with an HDD for storage would be the best alternative, but as prices around here don't go under 70€ for a 60/64 GB SSD, and as I still need an HDD for mass storage, I will probably go with a 500 GB 7200 rpm HDD for now, and hopefully later upgrade with a SSD.
Hello!
I have a 4½ year old laptop holding two Hitachi 200 GB Travelstars. Now I am planning a new build (desktop), and as I have a budget I obviously try to save were I can. My question now is, would using the old hard drives be an idea, or will it simply set me up for a crash with...
So to sum it up, the P8Z68-V LX is less than optimal if I upgrade to Crossfire in the future, and regarding video and CPU no one can be certain about what will be the best deal in May until after we've seen the releases of Ivy Bridge, Pitcairn and Kepler.
I think I will simply put my plans...
I figured waiting for the release of the next generation of CPU's & new generation video cards would dump the price levels for the current generation. However, of course I could settle for the new stuff with the same price tag.
If I do, you suggest that swapping the V-LX for, say, a Asus...
Hello!
I'm planning my first own build, in the form of a gaming PC to fit a budget of max 1000 € (living in northern Europe). I am planning to start the build in April/May, but thought about asking for advice already at this stage, in order to have plenty of time to plan and pick good deals for...
