I agree. A repaste might lower the temps but they're also caused by the utilization. A newer card wouldn't struggle as much with modern Games as mentioned in the previous thread.
Buying an adapter card , so you can use m.2 cards in an PCI e slot, might be more expensive than a WiFi Card that fits directly into a PCI e Slot . But there is such cards with several slots. You could add another hard Drive ( M.2 SSD ) if you like . They don't cost a lot more, Iirc.
I played a lot of just cause 3. Its alright. The gameplay is a bit repetitive. But thats partially my fault.I would suggest following the main story, especially in the beginning.
I also played Sherlock Holmes: Crime and punishment. This game has good stories but some of the clues are awfully...
I really did pick up a Acer X2640G.
It has a Pentium processor, which i will swap with the I5 6400. Then i add the 16 GB RAM kit. A small 256 GB SSD and 8 GB DDR4 are included. I will sell the Pentium and the 8 GB DDR4.
The PC costs me 40 € including delivery.
I will report my experiences...
The timeline ist a bit confusing.
First you had issues weeks ago, yesterday it stopped booting completely unless you had just reset the BIOS via CMOS, correct?
Please name your current BIOS version, when you flashed it and wether it really is the latest.
And please edit your First Post. It...
So you need a viewfinder, that is not a screen? How many cameras have both?Hundreds maybe? That screen has more benefits than you think. Screens don't suck. If i take of my glasses to manage to look through a tiny rectangular hole instead of a small screen, i realize that i never would have had...
Yes, i probably will use DietPi. I had no problems with OMV on a PI4 B. But i would have to use wireguard to access it from outside. And wireguard doesn't work on my phone. 😕
This sounds alright :
- It has enough SATA Ports and enough space for the hard drives
- I could use the I5 6400 and the RAM
- My bluray disc drive would fit ( not absolutely necessary, but nice to have )
- It´s cheap
Acer Veriton X2640G for 44,79
Yes, i understand that OMV is not my only option. I might run Docker and Plex Media Server with it. VM is not something i want to do with it.
As i said:
And the reason for that is the amount of electricity my current PC uses ( Ryzen 5, GTX 1060 and so on). I don't want to let it run for weeks...
I will add some details:
I will try a dual boot configuration with
Open Media Vault and Kodi or something similar.
OMV is for hosting files and it also has other capabilities
Kodi will be used for streaming and such when i'm at home
What i should have mentioned earlier:
The NAS will not be...
Why not? There is a lot of prebuilts with missing parts ( CPU, RAM, hard Drives ) on eBay and other Marketplaces. I am just trying to bring down the cost.
I would buy a barebones mashine and add the parts, that i already have. I am looking for something like this
Dell PC (6th gen Intel)
Or...
