Does your front panel have a USB3/USB2 composite lead (i.e. both USB3 and USB2 connections)? If so make sure front panel is not connected to both at same time-use USB3 only OR USB2 only (older boards without USB3 support). May just be same problem...

1TB is for additional storage or you want to move OS to it from 160GB? Most of the HDD maufacturers also have utilities programs to do this for you or if you don't want to use Win10 disk management for formatting, partitioning etc..
