I've been having a lot of memory based problems, but my RAM is not the cause - I've run through all of them with memtest86 in all dimm slots. It's brand new, but dumb as I was - I didn't inspect the CPU for any kind of damage, before installing it. Also the DIE side of the CPU has no scratches...
