the monitors tab in device manager says generic PnP monitor

the adapter tab shows standard vga graphics adapter and when i try to update it , it shows the driver is already updated

the display tab shows "Generic PnP Monitor On Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"

hi. I recently reinstalled windows 7 on my pc, after which it shows only 3 resolution options, 1280X1024 1024X768 800X600. Before reinstalling windows , my display had the perfect resolution(a higher one i guess), but now it shows only 3 options which do not display things properly...
