overclock 9500 pro-bios flash

you just use a start disk and once it's loaded insert a floppy with atiflash on it and the new bios .bin file and run the flash utlity and load the bin file when asked for it. Also I think the bin file is zipped and has a readme which gives more info.

When will LCD's equal in performance to CRT's

    how are they inferior?

    to overclock? (radeon 9500 pro)

I got an Sapphire card about 2 weeks ago and immediately flashed the BIOS and it worked w/o any issues. WinXP booted and recognized it now as a 9700 PRO. Overclocking is useful if you play games that are graphic intense, there's less lag and action games can run faster and smoother if the card...

Need some help/suggestions taking a LCD on trip

Just secure it the best you can. Remember LCD's are used in all kinds of handheld gadgets, laptops and all types of portable setups so I wouldn't worry much. They're made to be durable.

    LCD vs. CRT (Hitachi CML174???)

I dunno about other LCD's except when I look at them on display at the stores and compare them to my CML174 they're crap! It's a great display and has a simple design, a plus for me. I play games and DVD's and WOW, great output especially using DVI.

OC AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton)

hate to say it, but it's most likely due to the mobo not being the newer version 2.0 which was designed for 400 FSB, maybe try the newer BIOS which might add better capabilities. Also it could be due to the memory not being PC3200 rated, most PC3000 chips are overclocked PC2700's, even some of...

    Radeon 9600 Pro Drivers

True, new boards (and maybe even BIOS updates of old ones?) do have 512 as an option though :/
Edited by nja469 on 06/07/03 01:37 PM.

    Radeon 9600 Pro Drivers

Normally you want the size to be double that of RAM built into the card, a 16MB card = 32, 64MB card = 128, etc.

OC AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton)

As long as it's a new A7N8X it will be a breeze. I just got an A78NX, 2500+ and new RAM/vid last week and the second I turned it on I went into BIOS and adjusted FSB speed to 200 and left multiplier at 11 and system booted right up as 3200+ To keep stable though at stock voltage I had to lower...

    9500pro + dx9.0a = HARD crash?

I have same card, except I flashed its BIOS and it's recognized by XP and Catalyst as a 9700 PRO :) Anyhow when playing GTA for awhile I also get random crashes, but only when overclocking the card. Recently I fixed the problem entirely by upping all my voltages when I'm in the mood to game...

SiSoft Sandra Says CPU TOO HOT!!!

Yep, listen to the BIOS sensor and not what Sandra is spewing.

Battle of the Bartons... (Help me decide!)

Well, for $95 at newegg I'd get the barton 2500+ I have one and with stock cooling and default voltages I'm running at 3200+ speeds and 400FSB. Atleast it does this easily with an nforce2 ultra chipset. Even if you don't overclock, for being under $100, it's a great deal.

    O/Cing to FSB 200mhz w/ 2500+

Thanks for the info. I tried bumping the vcore, it loaded windows but had an exception until I got to 1.725, there it was stable but ran much warmer than before. It runs stable at 10.5 x 200 with no vcore adjustments, but anything higher (multiplier or FSB) is needs more voltage, so I'm...

    O/Cing to FSB 200mhz w/ 2500+

You're right I haven't tried upping voltages at all. The error I get when I run it a 200 x 11 is when Win XP is supposed to boot it doesn't and instead says "ntoskernal.exe" file is bad and may need reinstallation (or something like that).. so i dunno, is that error common when overclocking...

    O/Cing to FSB 200mhz w/ 2500+

I just got an A7n8X deluxe PCB version 2.0 and updated BIOS to the latest 1004, 2/256 OCZ PC3200 CL2's for dual channel and barton 2500+ from newegg and it easily went to 200 FSB. It runs right now at 2.14. POST and win XP say it's a 3000+ :) I love it, a $300 processor for $125! Also with...
