I have a spare PSU, changed the PCI-E power cable and PSU both. System up and running now. However monitoring the PSU temp (hand behind the exhaust vents) seems to be very hot. Don't have a laser temp gun, so cannot tell, but seems very hot to hand. 1500W PSU should take the load of 4 r9 290...

ok. found the culprit. A semi burnt out PCI-E power connector where it goes in the PSU socket. Don't know if the power cable faulty or PSU faulty.

I am running 4 R9 290 cards on a 1500W PSU 24/7 (mining altcoins) Last 2 days the system freezes itself, but comes back up after a restart. Today the burnt out smell got more than yesterday, obviously system was running fine before I stopped it due to caution. Is it normal to get this smell...

Update: Reinstalled AMD Catalyst Drivers at least twice and all 4 GPU are now visible to cgminer.

Upadate: Reinstalling the AMD Catalyst drivers (13.11) made the 3rd GPU visible to cgminer. I have connected 1x riser cable to PCIE2,3,4 and 5 slots as of now. Also both powered riser cables are connected to single PSU power cable which seems to have 3 molex connectors so using 2 off them. Pics...

thx. now getting a d6 error code, still no display. Since there is no onboard display (this is my understanding on this mobo) I am connecting hdmi between the graphics card monitor. Do I have attach a power cable to display card even if its directly mounted on the mobo in one of the 16x pci slots?
