I'm probably not qualified to speak on this, but from what I've heard, the 7700k does run quite hot, and Intel's offical solution is to stop overclocking it so high (no, really). So, yeah, I'd say that sounds kinda normal.

I know you probably already thought of this, but did you check and make sure your RAM is compatible? I know, dumb question, but Dell generally uses the cheapest chipset they can get away with (in my experience), and I've had the wrong RAM take down systems before.

If I had to take a shot, i'd say that your cpu just can't handle the task of streaming. If I recall correctly, Geforce Experience is good at being resource-light, but the lag is still probably caused by your cpu having to process all the info going out. So yeah, probably your cpu.

Ok, so it seems like you guys recommend going for the ryzen 3 regardless of the price. Thanks for the input, I'll definitely try and recommend it.

I'm no expert, but it could be an issue with your AIO. If I remember correctly, the FX 8320 is a hotter CPU. Also, just out of curiosity, are you using a 970 chip set board? I remember reading a post on the 8320 where the power needs would cause massive temps due to weaker vrms causing the north...

Thanks for all the help, guys. I've managed to solve the problem. Turns out I needed to flash the BIOS, and the problem is now solved.

Ok, so an update. It turns out that the Latitude e5440 has msata capability, and I've been able to load windows on to the ssd on that computer. However, when I put the drive back into the thinkpad, once again the drive doesn't show up. Am I missing something in the bios?

I don't have another computer that has bootable mSata slots, and the other person I know who has thinkpads has a t510, a gen too old, and a t440p, a gen too new. However, and I know this isn't much indication, when I put a standard 2.5" hdd into the laptop, it detects and boots the drive.
