    Phenom II x4 970 vs x6 1055t

Well, if your gaming and not willing to spend a but load of cash just go with the X4.

    *possible* upgrade.

I would look at the Phenom II series and not go with SSD's just yet. The 955 is a power house which is good and should run games just fine. But the L3 cache really does make a large difference. Sooooooo. Oh also don't get the X6 unless you have programs that can actually make use of the six...

    PC Specs for gaming

You should totally build a PC, heck I wouldn't buy a iBuyPower without opening that case up and makin sure everything was ok, who knows what they do. Probably just slap it all together and say done :P I have heard stories though where people who bought pre-built machines had a graphics card not...

    PC Specs for gaming

You should be fine, but why not build your PC? Its a great experience and if anything really breaks or happens to it hardware wise you could probably fix it on your own. Not to mention that it would save you around 200 bucks to build it on your own.

    Upgrading AM3 CPU

The Athlon II X3 runs almost the same as the Phenom II X2 http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/athlon-ii-x3-435_5.html#sect0 Just burns more energy + more heat because of the extra core. But your best bet would be the oem BE quad core the 820? I think that was listed here.

    Upgrading AM3 CPU

Yeah I forgot to mention that the L3 cache gaming really makes a difference, but do everything else it doesn't really. So even if you get a Phenom II X2 its faster then the Athlon II X3 or something in gaming at least.

    Upgrading AM3 CPU

If your gaming get the Phenom II X3 or Phenom II X2 and OC the *** out of it. If your not gaming get the Athlon II X3. That mobo will unlock cores, well mine did. I don't know if I'm just lucky or my Phenom II X3 740 was a broken one :L I have the same mobo its great :D But like o1die I think...

    Help to overclock GT 425M

Try going to nVidia's website and DLing older drivers. Or this, find the MSI Afterburner folder in your Program Files, look for a cfg file called "MSIAfterburner" scroll down till you see something called "EnableunofficialOverclocking" that let me OC my card.

    HP XW9400 Clock Speed Low

Yeah It could just be AMD's Cool and Quiet kickin in, in which case you fine and when it needs the extra horse power it will just clock it self up again. I would try running some CPU monitor then putting some load on your machine and seeing if the clock changes. Also through the BIOS you should...

    HP XW9400 Clock Speed Low

What was the CPU's original speed? Also you could try changing the multiplier, or increasing the Front Side Bus (FSB) speed. YOu might have to downclock your RAM in order to do that.

    Help to overclock GT 425M

First off this could be a nVidia driver problem. Secondly in nVidia control panel there should be an option to OC, I don't have a nVidia card so I don't know what its called but like what you said, I cant OC in Msi Afterburner without ATi Overdrive turned ON. So look for that option. If you do...

    How to apply Thermal Paste/Compound

I use Tuniq TX-2. Which is pretty great stuff, its ceramic based so if you get it all over your motherboard it wont short anything. All I did was place a small X on the CPU and let the cooler push it out. On my graphics card i put a small dot on the die. Both lowered my temps by like 10 degrees

    1440x900 with ati 6870=overkill?

Yeah even a 5770 is somewhat overkill for the 1600 by 900 monitor that I have. Just buy a cheaper card. Hell even a 5670 would suit you okay. But you should be fine with a 5750 or 5770. Or if you want to wait a 6770 or 6750 (I think thats called)
