Review Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series) review: Increased performance at the expense of battery life

2880 x 1920 makes this a 3:2 monitor. If you've ever used one of those with sufficient resolution, they look amazing with documents side by side, or in vertical orientation. btw, 16:9 1080p looks f'in disgusting on a 14" laptop. I find the quite similar 16:10, 1200p, 14.1" screen to be barely...

News AMD RX 9070 GRE rumored to have 48 CUs, 12GB VRAM, 2.79 GHz clocks — about 15% slower than the vanilla RX 9070

    So it's... RDNA4.0 RX 9070XT: 64CU RX 9070: 56CU RX 9070 GRE: 48CU RX 9060 XT: 32CU RDNA3.5 RX 8060S: 40CU RX 8050S: 32CU RX 890M: 16CU RX 880M: 12CU RX 860M: 8CU I wonder if they'll bother with a 9060 XTX with 40CU, or 9040/9050 with 20~24CU. Preferably with the AV1 encode/decode still intact.

News Seagate claims hard drives are more environmentally friendly than SSDs

I'm not entirely sure who this PR piece is aimed at. Data storage is a necessity in this age, so while it's nice they consider the total carbon emissions, it doesn't really matter because we can't live without it. And it's not like SSDs, optical, and Tape can replace HDDs 1:1 right now. There is...

News Synology requires self-branded drives for some consumer NAS systems, drops full functionality and support for third-party HDDs

Is this the page for Synology Plus series HDDs? https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/drives/hdd/plus-hat#features 3yr warranty seems kinda low. As long as they keep a vanilla model, sure why not a premium NAS for SOHO? I half expect a reddit thread to popup with a list of HDDs that can run a...

Where to buy Nvidia's RTX 5060 Ti graphics card as 16GB and 8GB flavors hit the shelves

Wow, the prices on some of those cards are insane... $600 for a TUF 5060Ti? $550 for an Aorus? Ideally you should get an 9070XT for $600, or 9070 for $550, but they're flying off the shelves. The 3rd best option is an RTX 5070 for $550. They're selling very poorly, and sitting on shelves...

Review Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB review: More VRAM and a price 'paper cut' could make for a compelling GPU

IDK if you meant the 5060Ti, but the 5060 is $299. or did you mean the 5060 should be a $200 card? MSRP 5060: $299 MSRP 5060Ti 8GB: $379 MSRP 5060Ti 16GB: $429 But yes, they have the typical Nvidia tax. The extra shenanigans tax on top doesn't look like it's helping either.

News Nvidia announces GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060, starting at $379 and $299

I don't expect AMD to meet the potential demand for a $300/$350 9060XT 8/16GB. Even if they learned their lesson from 9070XT, there's only so much they can produce because the bottleneck is TSMC. AMD's TSMC N4P allocation is locked in for years. There's no expanding production further, unless...

News Limited-edition Severance keyboard features a built-in trackball, but aptly, there’s no Escape

There is this novel concept called a niche market that cater to a specific type of customer. You aren't the target audience, I'm guessing it's a collector's item. Just move on, not everything is about you.

News Second-gen Snapdragon X PC chips may boost performance up to 22%

The X Elite supposedly has 12x PCIe 4.0 lanes. (Qualcomm decided not to make this info open for some reason.) And it has the ports to connect with an eGPU. So it's not like the chip can't interface with a GPU. The problem is there are zero graphics drivers for ARM on Windows. As for the iGPU...

News Nvidia announces GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060, starting at $379 and $299

refer to this line "HWU did a video and in it Nvidia claimed that 3GB chips were rare and expensive." Rarity, sure. Expensive compared to a 2x2 clamshell? Doubt.

News Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 graphics card roundup: Every announced card from every AIB partner

Gigabyte is the only one offering anything remotely interesting with their low-profile card. However, I am unconvinced their x8 slot cards with the massive overhang from the heatsink. I'll be waiting to hear how well they handle being shipped in a case without a locking tab and the fulcrum...

News Nvidia announces GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060, starting at $379 and $299

    Hard disagree. The comparison is >8GB and how you achieve it. Option A: 192-bit, 2GB (What Arc B580 did) Option B: 128-bit, 3GB Option C: 128-bit, 2x2GB, clamshell Option D: 96-bit, 2x2GB, clamshell A 12GB model means you don't need a 16GB model. It was very evident from the 4060Ti that 16GB...

News Nvidia announces GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060, starting at $379 and $299

As for the 12GB configuration using 3GB chips. HWU did a video and in it Nvidia claimed that 3GB chips were rare and expensive. I find it hard to believe that 4x 3GB chips would cost more than 8x 2GB chips + clamshell PCB. I think it's entirely down to limited quantity and product segmentation...

News Second-gen Snapdragon X PC chips may boost performance up to 22%
