Unless you're doing professional video editing or extreme graphics gaming, you're not going to ever need the GTX 980. I'd say stick with the 970 at most for high-extreme gaming.

I second Gam3r01's advice. For the small price difference, the EVO is just a much better cooler. It has much larger cooling potential, helping with system longevity and temperature (less crashes when operating CPU intensive tasks) or if you're overclocking, it's still the best bang/buck CPU cooler.

It will work, but I also noticed something else you should change, the GPU. It is overkill unless you are using professional applications (real-time video editing) on 3+ monitors. I would sell the 780 and instead get a GTX 770.

PWM = 4-Pin. It means that you can control fans. However, a molex from the PSU will turn it into a 3-pin un-controllable fan.

Still a bad build. The most any games use is an i5-4690k. Then get an Asus Maximus VII Hero (better motherboard for gaming). Get a EVGA GTX 770 w/ ACX cooler, as there is no need for a GTX 780. It is only for professional multi-monitor applications.

It will not work. The z97 uses LGA 1150. The old pentiums use LGA 775/1155.

No worries mate :) newcomers always "break" their video cards. Why "break", you didn't actually break anything, you just pushed it a bit too far in one go and caused it to reset. Nothings broken, it's just how overclocking works. Even if it did break, EVGA will gladly give you a new GPU.

I highy dis-recommend overclocking with the stock AMD cooler, as it can barely handle stock speeds for AMD cpus. I recommend at least a CM Hyper 212 EVO or even a noctua NH-D14/15 if you are going to highly overclock.
