    GPU fans running at top-speed

Is there any way I could narrow this down to a problem with the PSU? I have a five-year warranty, so if it's defective I could get a replacement, but right now I have no way of knowing if it's the real problem. Everything else seems to be working fine aside from the GPU fans running at full-blast.

    GPU fans running at top-speed

I'm scared to even boot up, as I'm not sure I'd be eligible for another replacement if this new GPU got fried by my system.

    GPU fans running at top-speed

cdrkf, no, unfortunately I don't have another machine to test on, but it's a factory-sealed replacement so I have no reason to think it'd be defective joesklar, it's definitely unusual behavior for my machine; I'd never heard the fans run this loud before, and it actually started after being...

    GPU fans running at top-speed

tl;dr: my GPU started running its fans full-blast after a power outage and wouldn’t output video. I replaced it, but five minutes after booting up the new GPU started running its fans full-blast as well. Background: There was a storm in the bay area a month ago, and our power went out. When it...

    First Gaming Build, around $1200

Awesome, thanks. I just realized the RAM frequency I'd selected (1866) isn't compatible with these motherboards, so I went with a different option. I think this thing is looking pretty solid! Now the inevitable internal debate over whether I should wait for price drops/sales... :D PCPartPicker...

    First Gaming Build, around $1200

Alright, good to know, thanks! I'm looking at my CPU/Mobo combo now and thinking it's probably a bit more than I need since I won't be overclocking. Any recommendations for a good all-around non-K/nonZ87 option?

    First Gaming Build, around $1200

Thanks! Is there generally a consensus on whether PCPartPicker's estimated wattage is accurate? It's telling me 368W for this config, and I've read that you generally want to tack on an extra 25% to be safe, so about 450. Maybe this Seasonic 550W instead...

    First Gaming Build, around $1200

I'm putting together a PC for the first time, and I'd love some feedback on the parts I've chosen. I'll be using this computer for gaming, anything from 2D indie titles to more demanding modern games like The Witcher 3. I'll also be doing 3D work for games in Zbrush, Maya, and UDK. Budget-wise...
