Question Are you a brand loyalist?

Hm.... I think I am to an extent, but usually purchase according to budget and need. CPU: I tend to build AMD systems, but tend to buy Intel pre-builts. This is over a couple of decades though. CPU cooler: Noctua. GPU: mixture of Nvidia and AMD. I do tend to have more MSI graphics cards than...

    Question Moving, must consolidate PC

If that's the case, then go with the desktop components for a new build if your current PC doesn't fit the usage. If you haven't already I'd suggest posting on the system boards with your particular requirements and budget for further recommendations.

    Question Moving, must consolidate PC

It really depends on what usage the computer will see. If a laptop can handle your workload, and if you want the portability; then it is a viable option for you. If you require heavier computing power then desktop components are the only real choice. It can then be decided how to proceed with...

[SOLVED] Is it worth buying more RAM (DDR3) or should I move to DDR4 (for gaming)

DDR3 and DDR4 are incompatible. By upgrading to DDR4 you also need to upgrade the CPU and motherboard.

[SOLVED] Must I change other components when changing graphic card?

The voltage readings look fine as they're within tolerance thresholds. One of the benefits of the GTX 1660 ti is its power efficiency. From what I could find it's more power efficient than your current GTX 560. One of the benefits of newer technology, so I wouldn't be concerned about wearing...

[SOLVED] Must I change other components when changing graphic card?

The stock cooler for the Ryzen CPUs are fine (comparatively better than Intel's). If the case has good airflow it should be fine. With the stock cooler there is some thermal paste pre-applied to the heatsink at the bottom. So you don't need to buy additional thermal paste. (Though if you find...

[SOLVED] Must I change other components when changing graphic card?

Asus motherboards should be fine. It's the motherboards in prebuilts from Dell, and the likes, where more care should be taken as they tend to use proprietary motherboards. Adobe software traditionally favoured Intel CPUs. The current generation of AMD Ryzen 3000 series CPUs has shown AMD have...

[SOLVED] Must I change other components when changing graphic card?

I believe we'd have to go back to older motherboards (and chipsets) to start seeing some actual compatibility problems. Modern graphics cards use PCIe x16 slots which are effectively forwards and backwards compatible. There are some caveats to that, mostly associated with prebuilt PCs, eg. Dell...

[SOLVED] Must I change other components when changing graphic card?

Hm... the i7-3770K should still hold its own in most tasks, but perhaps shows its age a bit now depending on the tasks. I would suggest a graphics card upgrade, eg. GTX 1660 Super/ti, to see if it helps with your overall experience. The graphics card, and some other components, can be carried...

[SOLVED] Must I change other components when changing graphic card?

The simple answer is no, you don't have to. Some people may want to upgrade an entire system, but it really isn't mandatory. The question you have to ask is whether the PC is doing everything you want it to. If it doesn't then identifying what sort of upgrade is suitable for your usage is the...

    [SOLVED] I5 9600K with gtx 1050 TI

As mentioned, it's more a case of it being seen as wasteful rather than make things not function.

    [SOLVED] I5 9600K with gtx 1050 TI

Good that you're aware. Also need DDR4 ram as well for the core upgrade. punkncat gives a good insight into what to expect.

    [SOLVED] I5 9600K with gtx 1050 TI

Not bad as such, perhaps a little wasteful depending on circumstance and usage. What motherboard do you have now? Have you checked if it's compatible with the i5-9600k?

[SOLVED] Used case i5 9400F with Gtx 1660 for 420$

If all other components are effectively the same, then there isn't a huge performance difference. The difference in cost would allow you to upgrade the i5-8400 system with more RAM immediately, and perhaps a PSU upgrade sooner. That would be my reasoning behind the choice.
