I tried that to be sure and no good. I notice when I change source I get a loud "Optical on" so i think it is just a bad design.

With hdmi-arc connection from my LG tv to Emerson 2002 soundbar, I get a loud "Power On HDMI" when I turn on the tv. I cannot control this sound level. Also when I turn the tv off, a get a loud "Power Off". I am buying an optical cable hoping I can resolve it that way, lower quality sound is...
