Physically the cpu is changeable Recommended no, the laptop was designed for that specific cpu and has the cooling of THAT CPU. same thing with Graphics card.

it sounds like a bad psu or mobo. New does not always mean 100% working. What psu do you have?

well am3 is amd's socket and lga775 is intel's socket am3 motherboards go all the way up to 6 cores. What processor and motherboard are you looking at?

hey on my mobo it says it supports a 6core phenom ii and i tried it and it lowers the clock speed so i had to go with a phenom ii x4 840 and its great. you could have the same problem, call up msi to figure it out

another thing. you probably shouldn't jump into overclocking until you learn how it works and if you really need to overclock. If you do just want to try it or need to overclock it is about trial and error. there is a forum just for overclocking on this site.
