Ok seems that I have fixed it, there was an option in the BIOS to boot with the USB ports set back to 2.0 and it has now picked up the USB! Phew!

Just checked the specs, my laptop has four USB 3.0 ports which is why it's not picking anything up.

I thought they would work but they are not recognizing any USB device that I plug in to them, tried with 3 different USB's now. They seem to be giving power and lighting up the USB but as far as recognition goes I'm getting nothing.

So I just reformatted my windows 8 laptop back to windows 7 and within the reformat I lost all my drivers. Now I went to re-install them only to realise that I dont even have the basic network drivers to get internet access onto the laptop as well as no USB drivers to install off a USB. The...
