CPU overclocked in BIOS, but intermittently not overclocked in CPU-Z?

I recently noticed that my CPU is not always overclocked, even though it is set to be in the BIOS. About 4 times out of 5, the CPU will be overclocked, but the other ~20% of the time, it won't be. This is an Intel 3930K and ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard. I have the multipliers on all...

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them...

Thanks for your reply. I'm actually trying to avoid reinstalling. It would be quite a big effort in my case. The CBS.log file is pretty long and complex. But if I can understand what files are corrupt, I'd probably have an easier time replacing those than reinstalling.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them...

After running sfc/scannow from the command prompt, I received this result. I was able to locate the CBS.log file, which is supposed to contain the details. However, I'm not able to interpret it. I have an original Windows 7 DVD, so if I can identify the corrupt files, I believe I can replace...

Western Digital VelociRaptor slow in testing

Thanks for the replies. The model number shows in Windows as WDC WD6000HLHX-01JJPV0. I have had it in my machine for ~2 years now. I've never had any problems with it. I've never tested its speed until now. I downloaded the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows and followed the...

Western Digital VelociRaptor slow in testing

I have a 600 GB WD VelociRaptor installed as an extra data drive in my machine. I decided to test its speed with a benchmarking program. The results seem disappointing: the sequential write speed is 124.7 MB/sec, and sequential read speed is 132.3 MB/sec. By way of comparison, I have an...

Cannot install GeForce driver for GTX 780 Ti ["The data is invalid."]?

Thanks for your reply. I submitted my question to nVidia, and they suggested I use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely uninstall my current driver. This method worked for me. Apparently there was some Windows registry corruption related to the display driver. Your suggestion also...

Cannot install GeForce driver for GTX 780 Ti ["The data is invalid."]?

When I downloaded and tried to install GeForce driver 347.52, I saw the files self-extract as usual, but before the installer started, an NVIDIA INSTALL windows opened and stated, "The data is invalid." and quit. This is the first time I have seen this. I re-downloaded the file just to make...

Looking for new monitor ... ASUS PG278Q vs BenQ BL3200PT

I am in the market for a new monitor after ~8 years using a Planar PX2320MW, which still works well. I am seeking something a bit bigger and higher resolution because I recently upgraded my video cards to 2 x GTX 780 in SLI. My Planar is 1920 x 1200, and I almost feel like dual 780s are...

ASUS RIVE: Windows 7 slow to find Intel LAN controller...

I have a discrete NIC: Bigfoot Networks Killer 2100 PCIe card, and I have been connecting to the internet through that. Now I am considering removing the NIC to make room for a different PCIe card... So, I wanted to test the functionality of the onboard Intel LAN controller. It works fine...

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme: Intel vs ASMedia SATA

I received a response from ASUS: the ASMedia ports are for data HDD or SSD, not a boot drive. So the controller isn't really supposed to work with a boot drive. And unfortunately the ASMedia ports also do not support hardware RAID. I guess I could attach the RAID 0 set to the ASMedia ports...

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme: Intel vs ASMedia SATA

Yes, I think my SSD maxes out the SATA II interface. I'm getting about 280 MB/s sequential reads, which is reported to be about the max for SATA II. I believe the SSD can do well over 400 MB/s on the native SATA III port. When I had it on the ASMedia SATA III, I think it was doing about 380...

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme: Intel vs ASMedia SATA

Wow, 180 MB/s is slow. I'm benchmarked the sequential read of my boot SSD off the Intel SATA II at about 280 MB/s, which isn't terrible, but I'm sure it can do better. I also benchmarked my SSDs in RAID 0 on the two Intel SATA III ports and I was getting just over 1,000 MB/s! So I'd guess a...

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme: Intel vs ASMedia SATA

Thanks for your replies. There are enough Intel SATA ports for all of my drives. I have them all on the Intel ports now. But only two of the Intel ports are SATA III, all of the rest are the slower SATA II type. Right now, I'm using the two SATA III ports for the SSDs in RAID 0, which leaves...

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme: Intel vs ASMedia SATA

I have this motherboard with the 4802 BIOS revision. And I have three Intel 520 series SSDs and one WD VelociRaptor HDD. I have two of the SSDs in RAID 0 attached to the red Intel SATA III ports, the WD HDD attached to a black Intel SATA II port, and the single SSD, which is my boot drive and...
