    [SOLVED] RAM keeps going bad

That very well could be where the problems come in. While you can technically push past that CPU limit, you also run the risk of dealing with memory problems like you described. I would highly recommend picking up that same kit but in 3200 speed. You will have absolutely no problems reaching...

    [SOLVED] RAM keeps going bad

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your wording, but if you're getting memtest errors on the default JEDEC SPD profile (non XMP) then you need to RMA the memory. There should be 0 errors without XMP enabled. The old RAM did technically exceed the memory frequency limit of your processor, but with the...

Question Failing memtest on less-than XMP settings, worth it to RMA?

True, or whatever Intel's equivalent is (FSP, was it?). Newegg actually just restocked the Dominator memory I was looking at so I went ahead and ordered it. Only sits at 6600MT, but all the DIMMs are at least guaranteed to play nice together and the timings are much better than what I could...

Question Failing memtest on less-than XMP settings, worth it to RMA?

That's true, I missed that. Either way I'm thinking that I'll just return both kits and pick up a set of the 64gb Corsair 6600. I wish their Dominator series was in stock anywhere on the internet but it's not... I could go with the Vengeance but I'm really not a fan of the Vengeance design. I...

Question Failing memtest on less-than XMP settings, worth it to RMA?

As for an update, here it goes: I cleared CMOS and ran a memtest overnight on the full 64gb at factory SPD settings, 4800MT at CL40 (lol) and it gave no errors. Whew. This morning I also removed one of the sets of memory and I ran a memtest on the XMP profile at the advertised 7200MT at CL34...

Question Failing memtest on less-than XMP settings, worth it to RMA?

Good point. I'll reset the CMOS tonight and give it another test. My other problem with opting for a 2x32gb kit is the fact they are hardly sold at higher frequencies and often times seem to have a much higher CAS latency. This is probably just due to DDR5 being pretty new technology still...but...

Question Failing memtest on less-than XMP settings, worth it to RMA?

Thanks for the well-written reply. To answer each of your points in order: I don't recall fully clearing CMOS after each BIOS update. However, I believe it may have done so on it's own as my BIOS settings were reverted to default. I can definitely manually do so, however. I did try upping the...

Question Failing memtest on less-than XMP settings, worth it to RMA?

I have yes, I've updated to ver. F6c (released Mar. 2, 2023) which does include some memory optimizations, but unfortunately does not fix anything in regards to the errors. These tests were ran after flashing the BIOS to the most recent version.

Question Failing memtest on less-than XMP settings, worth it to RMA?

Hello all. For some context, I recently built a new PC. The (relevant) specs include an i9 13900k and 64gb of G.Skill DDR5 7200. I'm running on a Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master motherboard, which is specced at handling up to DDR5-8000. The memory is comprised of four sticks total, two kits of two...

Question Will installing another ssd change hwid?

Hi, I'm just wondering if installing another ssd will change my hwid. Specifically I'll be installing an m.2 nvme drive. I looked on the internet with not much info regarding my situation. To clarify, I already have my OS on an SSD, and I have a hard drive for general storage. I won't be putting...
