Today is a sad day, Galax called me and told me the 980 Ti Watercooled Edition i had ordered will have to be canceled as they wont be selling them anymore. I guess i could always buy an air-cooled card and just install a waterblock but im so lazy. Bah so much sadness.
So when i was first building my rig most of my pieces came but i was still waiting on the water-cooling parts. Just to make sure everything worked i hooked everything up and plugged the psu in and what not. Now i got a 5930k, so it doesn't come with a stock cooler. At the time i thought coolers...
Fractal Design S is a superb case from the research i've done, great for airflow, cable management, and its a nice size, not too big not too small. It also has sound dampening material that doesn't come at the cost of cooling ability.
Everyone's nervous their first time doing a custom waterloop but it can be easy if you've watched enough build logs. It's such a wonderful feeling when it works. Recently picked up a second job so that means more of my pc obsessions can be fead mwahaha. Currently doing research into soundcards...
The Gigabyte graphics card has over double the power phases (12 vs EVGA's 5), and two 8pin power connectors vs EVGA's two 6pin. Gigabyte's card easily beats the EVGA's card in overclockability based on those things (theoretically).
960 SLI-ed beats a 970 but does not outperform a 980. Not to mention SLI-ed 960s burn more power (62% more) compared to a 980 when both are at 100%. Get a 980, you wont be disappointed.
From Phantek's website: "Maximum graphics card length 420mm (300mm with HDD bracket installed)," that should be plenty for any 970 (Gigabytes biggest 970 is 280mm, plenty of space left if HDD rack is installed).
